KUCHING, Aug 4: Business owners eligible for the special one-off RM10,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 7.0 package do not have to apply for it.

Economic Planning Unit Director Dr Muhd Abdullah Zaidel when contacted by DayakDaily said it will be an automatic disbursement from the Sarawak government based on the list provided by the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

Muhd Abdullah clarified that the RM10,000 cash aid for businesses is meant to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sarawak in this difficult time brought about by Covid-19 pandemic.

“There will be no need for business owners to apply for the financial aid as we will obtain the list of businesses eligible for the aid from Socso and take the necessary actions,” said Muhd Abdullah.

He pointed out that businesses not registered with Socso will not be eligible for the aid.

The Sarawak government is giving a special one-off financial assistance of RM10,000 to active businesses registered in Sarawak under the BKSS 7.0 package.

He said the the measure will help to ease the financial burden of approximately 40,000 active businesses in Sarawak and it will cost the Sarawak government a direct expenditure of more than RM400 million.

This special financial assistance will be paid in two tranches: RM5,000 in September and the remaining RM5,000 will be paid in December 2021. — DayakDaily
