KUCHING, Nov 5: With an economic recession expected in the next two years, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has called for a stable Malaysian government to be formed.

He said for the past four years, Malaysia has wasted a lot of time with political uncertainty.

“We hope we will form a stable government post-GE15 where we are supposed to serve the people especially when in the year 2023 and 2024, the world economy is projected to face a recession.

“And it is our responsibility to establish a strong government in all of Asia and face the uncertain economic situation with policies that will benefit the common people and even boost the national economy,” he told the press at SMK Petra Jaya nomination centre here today.

He also hoped that the campaigning process for GE15 will run smoothly and would be done ethically.

“I see that a lot of the contested seats have three or four candidates.

“I believe the democratic process will give an opportunity to the people of Sarawak to choose their representatives to fight for our rights through the negotiations of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he added.

In the context of Sarawak, he said GPS will complement the role of Sarawak as a region in Malaysia and uphold the policies of fighting for Sarawak rights and leadership by working together with the Federal government. — DayakDaily
