KUCHING, Dec 15: AirBorneo has assured travellers that there will be no increase in air fares on any of its routes compared to existing MASwings prices, as the airline prepares to take over rural air services operations from January next year.

In a press statement today, AirBorneo said all routes operated during its initial phase will remain under the Rural Air Services (RAS) programme, covering destinations within Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan, which is identical to the current MASwings network.

“The fare structure is calibrated to support the continuity and sustainability of operations, taking into account the subsidy to be provided by the public service obligation agreement with the federal government (“RAS Agreement”),” read the statement.

Any future fare adjustments, it said, would only be considered after a new RAS agreement is mutually agreed upon with the federal government.

The airline also stated that it will continue engaging with federal authorities and explore other options to secure the best possible fares for travellers in East Malaysia.

Looking ahead, AirBorneo said it is developing an affordable pricing strategy for non-RAS routes to be introduced in the future, balancing operational costs with value, connectivity, reliability and punctuality for passengers in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.

AirBorneo officially launched its booking website on December 10, with ticket sales opening for travel from January 14, 2026, ahead of its legal and operational takeover of MASwings from January 1, 2026.

More information on fares and services is available on AirBorneo’s official website, while customers may also contact the airline’s customer service centre for enquiries at 1-300-22-1388 (toll-free for local callers) or +(60) 82-537 555 (for international callers). — DayakDaily
