Nine Covid-19 cases recorded, new cluster in Sarawak

KUCHING, July 18: The Ministry of Health (MoH) disclosed that nine positive Covid-19 cases were recorded throughout the country as of today, with a new cluster identified in Sarawak.

According to a statement from MoH, the nine new cases involved five local transmission and four import cases, whereby Sarawak recorded seven cases (five local transmission and two import cases from Singapore and Indonesia), while Selangor and Kelantan recorded one import case each.

“Stutong cluster is a new cluster identified in Sarawak, after a screening test was conducted on 218 individuals, two was found positive for Covid-19, and 54 others come out negative, while the rest are still waiting for the test result,” it said in the statement posted on its Facebook page today.


MoH added that the import case in Selangor involved a Malaysian returning from Indonesia, while one other case in Kelantan involved a foreigner returning from Pakistan.

Meanwhile, MoH also said a total of five cases involving positive Covid-19 have also recovered and discharged today, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 8,546.

“Zero death involving Covid-19 was recorded today, and only one case is still being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) as of now,” the statement read. –DayakDaily.
