SIBU, Jan 17: A paddy farmer, who was about to throw rubbish outside his home in Sibu Jaya here, was shocked to find a healthy baby girl left abandoned in the bushes.
Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, said the 45-year-old man found the baby at 9.30am.
“He went out to dispose some rubbish when he heard the cry of a baby near a banana tree. He searched around and was shocked to find a naked baby girl with the umbilical cord still intact,” he said.
The farmer brought the baby home and bathed her, before handing her over to the Sibu Jaya police station, he added.
“The baby has been referred to Sibu Hospital for further action,” he said. — DayakDaily
