KUCHING, Jan 16: The new Tanjung Manis Integrated Administration Centre (IAC) is set to begin operations soon, bringing various government services under one roof.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the 15-storey building has received its occupancy permit (OP), confirming that it is fully ready for use.
“The handover of this certificate proves that this building has been fully completed and is ready for use.
“Discussions and meetings have also been held, and several government agencies, including the Tanjung Manis District Office, will move in in the near future,” he said during an official visit to the IAC Tanjung Manis yesterday (Jan 15), as reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
He added that the modern building will house key Sarawak government agencies, including the Tanjung Manis District Office, the Rajang Delta Development Agency (Radda), the Matu Daro District Council (MDMD), as well as electricity and water bill payment counters and Sarawak Service counters.
“When all these agencies are concentrated in one strategic and fully equipped location, the people will no longer need to travel to different places to obtain services.
“This will definitely bring greater benefits to the people,” he said.
Abu Bakar said the new centre is part of the government’s plan to provide civil servants—especially those in rural areas—with a more conducive working environment, thereby improving public service delivery.
He added that similar administrative centres are planned not only for Tanjung Manis, but also for other areas across Sarawak to further strengthen public service delivery.
Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh also witnessed the handover of the OP to the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Board (STIDC), before it was handed over to the Administration Unit of the Premier’s Department.
Len Talif thanked the Sarawak government for providing modern and well-equipped administrative facilities in Tanjung Manis, and also expressed appreciation to Abu Bakar for visiting the district and expediting the centre’s operations.
Also present were Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Mukah Resident Datu Kueh Lei Poh, Tanjung Manis District Officer Ismail Kasahn, and other department heads. — DayakDaily
