SELANGAU, Oct 21: Construction work on the new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Dijih is expected to be completed by next October.
During a site visit today, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Aidel Lariwoo said the project is experiencing a slight delay of two per cent due to a site change.
“Currently, it is only 10 per cent completed from the scheduled 12 per cent,” he said.
Aidel said the project includes the construction of a block of 12 classrooms, two dormitory blocks, a dining hall, and one pumphouse.
“This project is funded under Phase 2 Package 12 of the RM1-billion contra loan payment by the Sarawak government and the upgrading work of SK Dua Sungai and SK Kampung Petanak in Mukah with a total allocation of RM21,892,100,” he said.
The school’s headmaster, Nyuwak Selan, said that the school has 374 students.
“Only 53 could stay in the dormitory due to the limited facilities. So, with the completion of the new two dormitory blocks, we hope that we can accommodate more students.
“We thank the government for their continuous effort in making sure that our students can study in a comfortable and conducive environment,” he said.
Before that, Aidel also visited two other schools — SK Penghulu Imban and SK Batu 36 — undergoing upgrading and repair works. — DayakDaily
