BAU, Aug 17: With the launch of the new RM24.6 million SK Suba Buan, the long-standing flood issues that have plagued the school are now a thing of the past, providing much-needed relief to students, teachers, and the entire Bau community.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated the opening ceremony of the new school building today.

In his speech, Deputy Transport Minister and Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep highlighted that the school boasts 18 classrooms, six units of teachers’ housing, and other essential facilities.

“Strategically located between Kampung Suba Bau and Kampung Suba Buan, the school is designed to serve students from these villages and the surrounding areas while easing congestion in nearby schools such as SK St Stephen,” he said.

The new school will begin operations soon, with students gradually transitioning from the old school.

Harry expressed his hope that the local community would help boost the school’s enrollment by sending their children to this new facility.

“This way, the return on investment (ROI) for this education development project in the Bau district will be optimised. We also hope that the Federal government, through the Malaysia Education Ministry, will approve more projects in our district,” he added.

Harry extended his gratitude to Abang Johari, the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, former Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian, and former Mas Gading assemblyman Dato Anthony Nogeh for their efforts in making the new school a reality.
