KUCHING, July 15: Sarawak Water today launched ORKID, its premium bottled water brand which will soon be served onboard AirBorneo flights, marking another step in promoting Sarawak-made products.
Speaking to reporters after the Borneo International Water & Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) 2026 here today, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said serving ORKID onboard AirBorneo would give the State-owned airline a unique Sarawak identity.
“I was given the honour of launching Sarawak Water’s new product, ORKID. This water will be available on AirBorneo.
“Our aircraft will be different from others because it will carry original water from Sarawak,” he said.
He said the introduction of ORKID reflects Sarawak’s efforts to create greater value from its water resources beyond supplying clean water to consumers.
The name ORKID also carries personal significance for the Premier. His late wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang was honoured with an orchid hybrid named Vanda Juma’ani, which was unveiled in 2024 in recognition of her contributions to environmental conservation and the orchid industry in Sarawak
The launch of ORKID was held alongside BIWWEC 2026, which brings together industry players to showcase the latest technologies and innovations in the water and wastewater sector. — DayakDaily
