KUCHING, Apr 7: The new Mukah Court building enables judicial proceedings to be conducted in a more comfortable environment equipped with modern facilities, improving user experience and providing more efficient access to justice for the local community.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said that the building, valued at RM474,925, officially began operations on Feb 10.
He added that it is supported by personnel comprising a Sessions Court judge, magistrate, assistant legal administrative officer, and interpreters.
The building replaces the former premises on Jalan Kubu II, which was returned to the Sarawak government to be transformed into a museum, and has been relocated to Jalan Desa Tanjung.
“Despite undergoing a seven-month transition period during the renovation works, the court ensured that access to justice for residents was not affected,” he said during the officiation ceremony of the Mukah Court at Jalan Desa Tanjung on Monday (Apr 6).
Also present were Court of Appeal president Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Jais, Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Seri Hashim Hamzah, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Datuk Azizah Nawawi, and Mukah District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Muhamad Rizal Alias. — DayakDaily
