KUCHING, Jan 17: The Sarawak government is set to construct a new Dalat District Office along with supporting facilities, including dedicated government quarters for civil servants serving in the Dalat and Oya areas.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) report, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the site for the development has already been identified and is awaiting the commencement of construction works.
“God willing, these quarters will accommodate government officers serving in both Dalat and Oya, and will be available to those from the Federal service as well,” he said during his working visit to Mukah yesterday.
At the same time, Mohamad Abu Bakar confirmed that the second phase of the Melanau Oya Heritage Gallery development has received approval from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said the project is expected to be tendered in the near future, ahead of the start of construction.
He highlighted the Melanau Oya Heritage Gallery as a landmark with the potential to become a premier tourist destination and an icon for the sub-district.
Also present during the visit were Mukah Division Resident Datu Kueh Lei Poh, Mukah Division Deputy Resident Shafrie Saili, Temenggung Hendi Suhai, Dalat District OfficerMathew Hubert, and Assistant Administrative Officer of the Oya Sub-District Office Siti Hawa Zainalabidin. – DayakDaily
