KUCHING, June 26: A new Covid-19 cluster in Betong has been declared to be linked to two longhouses at a housing area in Nyelutong, with 39 positive cases detected so far.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Nyelutong Cluster was a community cluster where 154 individuals were screened.
“Of the total screenings, 39 cases were positive for Covid-19 including the index case, 104 cases were negative and 11 more samples are awaiting laboratory test results,” it said in a statement on Covid-19 update today.
SDMC also assured that all the patients were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), the Sibu Hospital and the Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centres (PKRCs) in Kuching, Sibu and Betong for isolation and treatment purposes.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) also declared the expiration of the Melugu Cluster in Sri Aman after detecting zero cases for the past 28 consecutive days.
Thus, the number of active clusters that remained in the whole of Sarawak is now 94. — DayakDaily
