New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak dive to 147

KUCHING, Nov 22: Sarawak registered 147 new Covid-19 cases today, a sharp drop from the 245 cases reported yesterday.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Sarawak to 249,483.

According to a State Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) report, two Covid-19 patients were in critical stage, with one patient in Category 4 on breathing support and one patient in Category 3 with pneumonia.


There were 99 patients in Category 2 with mild symptoms and 46 asymptomatic patients in Category 1.

Meanwhile, 18 out of the 40 districts throughout the State reported new infections.

Kuching saw the most cases with 46 new infections followed by Limbang with 20 cases, Miri (19), Lawas (14), Bintulu (13) and Sibu (13).

Districts reporting less than 10 cases comprised Dalat (5), Samarahan (4), Kabong (3), Bau (2), Mukah (1), Kapit (1), Lundu (1), Saratok (1), Asajaya (1), Betong (1), Sebauh (1), and Matu (1)

Districts with zero new Covid-19 cases comprised Sarikei, Kanowit, Serian, Pusa, Sri Aman, Selangau, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Subis, Meradong, Tebedu, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Marudi, Julau, Song, Belaga, Telang Usan, Beluru, Daro, Pakan and Tanjung Manis.

Meanwhile, SDMC said there were three new Covid-19 deaths.

The first involved an 86-year-old woman from Sibu who had hypertension, diabetes and chronic lung disease who passed away on Nov 19.

The second involved a 78-year-old man from Mukah who had asthma and was brought-in-dead (BID) on Nov 20.

The third was a 58-year-old man from Serian who had hypertension and heart disease and who died on Nov 21.

With this, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak has increased to 1,565.

There were no new Covid-19 clusters declared or ended today.
