MARUDI, June 28: A 49-year-old Bugis man was found hanging inside an old factory here at about 10.30am yesterday by his nephew.

The building lies adjacent to an oil palm plantation.

According to Marudi acting police chief ASP Jaimi Husin, police rushed to the scene after being alerted of the episode.

“Prior to the discovery, the nephew was looking for firewood near the building (the old factory building) when he spotted ‘something’ hanging inside the building.

“His curiosity prompted him to conduct further checks inside the building. He was shocked to see it was his uncle’s body,” said Jaimi, when contacted today.

According to the preliminary investigation, the deceased had gone to stay with his nephew on June 14, looking for work.

Police have ruled out foul play, and the case has been classified as sudden death. The remains are now in Miri Hospital for a post-mortem. — DayakDaily
