Neighbour injured after trying to save car from Pusa house fire

BETONG, Jan 15: A 55-year-old woman suffered minor burns to her hand and neck while she was trying to save her car from a fire incident early this morning.

The fire broke out at her neighbour’s house at Jalan Seeder Pusa, near SMK Pusa.


The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre received the alert from MERS 999 at about 5.48am.

Seven firefighters from Betong station were despatched to the scene, located some 55km away.

They were also assisted by nine firefighters from Saratok station.

Betong fire station chief PPgB Vincent Baling disclosed the injured victim realised her vehicle was parked next to the fire and had gotten injured while attempting to move her vehicle away.

The neighbour was injured while trying to move her vehicle away from the fire.

She was later taken to the Pusa clinic by a Bomba Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) ambulance and was reported to be in stable condition.

The house was completely destroyed.

Bomba personnel at the scene conducted an overhaul to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. — DayakDaily
