KUCHING, Aug 30: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg hopes that Malaysia will remain stable, developed, peaceful, and prosperous.
According to a post on Sarawakku, the Premier’s official Facebook Page, in conjunction with the 66th National Day celebrations this year, Abang Johari also hoped that Sarawak, as a region of Malaysia, would continue to transform into a high-income developed region by 2030, as all of its people are hoping for.
āWith the theme of National Day and Malaysia Day 2023 āMalaysia Madani: Unity Determined to Fulfil Hopeā, together we pray for our country Malaysia to continue to be stable, advanced, peaceful and prosperous,ā he said in the āSambutan Perayaan Peringkat Sarawakā souvenir book, according to the Facebook post.
Furthermore, the Premier emphasised that the spirit of unity among the various races that became a pillar in the formation of Malaysia, which began with Malayaās independence on Aug 31, 1957 and was followed by the merger of Malaya, Sarawak, and Sabah on Sept 16, 1963 to form the Federation of Malaysia, should be cherished and strengthened.
āWe all pray that the dream of the national independence leaders led by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the Father of Malaysian Independence, of forming a developed and prosperous nation based on racial unity is not wasted.
āIn conjunction with this yearās National Day celebration, I invite all Malaysians, especially the people of Sarawak, to ensure that our society continues to be united regardless of race and religion in line with the spirit of āSegulai, Sejalaiā which is held by the people of Bumi Kenyalang.
āI pray that our country in general and Sarawak in particular continue to be preserved by Allah SWT with continued goodness and prosperity and ease all our affairs in developing Malaysia to a higher level and continue to shine with success,ā he added.
Mukah was chosen as the centre of the Sarawak-level celebration this year, which will be held concurrently with the national-level celebration in Putrajaya. ā DayakDaily
