KUCHING, May 24: The road junction to Kampung Sikog from the Mambong-Sarig Road has been the talk of the villagers for ages.

According to Pating Juboi, a Democratic Action Party (DAP) Unit leader at Kampung Sikog, there had been incidences of vehicles falling into a deep drain at the junction.

The 10-feet wide junction posed an imminent danger to motorists as it is too narrow for two vehicles to go through simultaneously. It is especially dangerous at night as the affected area has no street lightings.

“Apart from the narrow road junction, the poor condition of the road and drainage also give a negative image to the village.

“Even though some parts of the road in the village had been tar-sealed, the quality of the work done and the drainage system is still far beyond one’s imagination,” he said.

A villager, who declined to be identified, also shared that the condition of the road and drainage in the village had not improved much since 10 or 20 years ago.

Meanwhile, in a press release today, Sanjan Daik, a political secretary to Chong Chieng Jen, urged the authorities concerned to quickly look into the matter for the safety of road users and the well being of the villagers. — DayakDaily
