KUCHING, Dec 2: Newly appointed Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi vows to give his full attention where needed, especially to the completion of the Pan Borneo Highway.
Being quite surprised by the appointment to the Works Ministry, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary general said he would do his best in this new portfolio.
“I believe this is a very important appointment especially for Sarawak and Sabah when we still have to complete the Pan Borneo Highway and the other infrastructural development programmes.
“Having said this about Sarawak and Sabah, I am fully aware that I am not just a minister for Sarawak and Sabah, but a minister of works for the whole of Malaysia.
“I will give my due attention to wherever my attention is required as Minister of JKR (Public Works) throughout the nation.
“But of course, I will also focus on wherever needs are,” Nanta told DayakDaily when contacted.
He took the opportunity to express his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the appointment and GPS leadership for the recommendation and the trust.
Meanwhile, in a statement today, Nanta pointed out that he will ensure that every effort and initiative taken under the Ministry will bring good to all Malaysians, including Sarawak and Sabah.
He said that he understand that the responsibility comes with great challenges.
“I will give my full commitment and effort in ensuring a smoothness national administration plan in my capacity under this Ministry and continue the policies of the previous Ministry which proved to be effective in addition to improving the policies of the Ministry which can bring benefits to the people and the country,” he said.

He will also continue to respect the role of civil servants from all levels of the Ministry who have contributed a lot of ideas and energy to this Ministry.
“Indeed, this appointment is a very important trust and responsibility in helping the efforts of the Unity Government to continue the efforts to restore the country’s economy, especially by the year 2023 which is expected to be very challenging,” he said.
Nant had served as Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (March 2020 to Nov 2022) and Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development (May 2013 to May 2018). — DayakDaily
