KUCHING, June 5: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi will personally make a phone call to Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin on urging the use of certain rural schools as Covid-19 vaccination centres in Sarawak.

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, took note that the Kapit Resident has been applying to turn primary schools into vaccination centres to speed up and ensure a more organised and safer vaccination process for rural folk, but there has been no reply from the Education authorities.

“Why are the Education authorities refusing to cooperate on this matter? The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the State Education Department must explain.

“I will personally call YB Datuk Radzi Jidin, the Education Minister to explain to me. I hope to get a good and convincing explanation, or better still his consent to use the schools.

“I am disappointed and annoyed that all these glitches are hampering the vaccination process of our rural people,” he said in a statement today.

Nanta further reminded all government departments and agencies to never refuse or make it difficult to cooperate with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the mission to win against Covid-19.

“The fight against the Covid-19 is the collective responsibility of all of us, especially the Government’s entire machinery,” he added.

Nanta also called upon the rural folk to cooperate and register for the vaccination programme.

He said only through successful vaccination process and programme can we go back to live our normal lives. — DayakDaily
