KUCHING, June 25: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s remark that Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is the best political party in Malaysia signals the party’s confidence in its leadership and clear goals among its members.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi was referring to Abang Johari’s remark during the PBB Triennial General Meeting (TGM) held at Borneo Convention Centre (BCCK) last Sunday (June 19).

“The clear goals in question are the two powerful weapons of PBB, namely unity and determination among its members,” Nanta said in a Facebook post on Monday (June 21).

Nanta further shared that the fall of the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government back in 2018 saw the four component parties based in Sarawak, namely, PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) parting ways with the coalition.

Not long after, the four parties formed Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), which saw the coalition starting to act independently in determining the State’s development pattern.

“Not only refuting the superficial notion that Sarawak will go bankrupt due to the State’s fiscal planning confusion, but Sarawak will continue to be the topic of foreign conversation as a State with investment potential.

“The development progress, administrative efficiency and financial sustainability enjoyed by the State are among the essence of the speech of the Premier of Sarawak, thus will be the backup and driver of GPS’ determination to strengthen its grip ahead of the 15th General Election (GE15),” he added.

Nanta, also PBB secretary-general, said that if GPS manages to sweep all 31 seats in GE15, Sarawak’s voice will be louder in Parliament.

He also repeated another remark by Abang Johari, where the latter has said that God will ease the path of those with good intentions.

“Therefore, in achieving the people’s mandate, we must not forget the value of integrity. May our beloved Sarawak will continue to be prosperous and glorious for its people through increasingly challenging times,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
