KUCHING, Aug 27: In return for support from industry players in the retail and domestic trade sector, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has pledged his continuous commitment to serve the general and business communities.

Reappointed as Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) today, he said he could now carry on with his plans which he had previously made to revive the economy.

“When I left this ministry following the resignation of the 8th Prime Minister, in fact, there were many plans that have been drawn up to help consumers and the business community in the country.

“With my reappointment as KPDNHEP Minister, I am committed to continue the stalled planning that is in line with the government’s efforts to help revive the economy, especially in retail and domestic trade sector,” he said.

Though it has not been easy leading the ministry for 17 months previously, he believed KPDNHEP will continue to do well with the cooperation from Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid and Chief Secretary Datuk Seri Haji Hasnol Zam Zam Haji Ahmad.

Nanta, who is also Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general, was grateful for the new Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s trust in appointing him as one of the ministers in the new Cabinet.

“I would also like to thank the Chief Minister and GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for his confidence in nominating me again to serve in the Federal government’s administration,” said the Kapit MP.

Meanwhile, he called on all parties to stop politicking and give Ismail Sabri a chance to lead the country out of the current economic and health crisis as unity is key in combatting Covid-19. — DayakDaily
