KAPIT, Nov 4: Kapit incumbent Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi says he does not believe in an excessive approach when it comes to campaigning, regardless if it is a state or parliamentary election.

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general asserts that his campaigning efforts would scale with his opponent’s strength.

ā€œThere is no need to exaggerate about who opposes us or if the Opposition candidate is not strong.

ā€œI am a rational person. I will see if my opponent is strong or not. If they are or the resistance is great, then we will intensify our efforts. I will do what is reasonable.

ā€œOur election process in Malaysia is democratic, thus we must not act like cannons shooting mosquitoes. I am not calling my opponents mosquitoes, but I what am tying to say is that I will make sure in the two weeks of campaigning, we will adjust our pace accordingly,ā€ he said after the miring ceremony held at his residence here tonight.

Nanta is set to defend Kapit for the sixth term during the 15th General Election.

The caretaker federal Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs minister is expected to face two candidates, Khusyairy Pangkas Abdullah from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Robert Saweng from Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS).

The Election Commission (EC) has set the nomination day tomorrow (Nov 5), early voting on Nov 15 and polling day on Nov 19. ā€” DayakDaily
