KUCHING, March 14: The people of Johor can finally expect a smoother and more stable administration by the new state government for the sake of well-being and economic recovery, as the country moves towards a post-Covid-19 situation.
In stating this, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) for its landslide victory in the recently concluded Johor election on March 12.
“This victory means a lot to BN itself and to the people of Johor as a whole, especially when the country is heading into the ‘Transition to Endemic Phase’ as announced by the Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently.
“For BN, the victory of 40 seats means that they obtained a majority of more than two-thirds and managed to achieve the main objective targeted previously, which is to form a new state government that is strong, stable and conducive.
“This is important in planning the direction of development and management of the state, especially in approving important proposals in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) later,” he said in a statement today.
Nanta who is also the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Minister-cum-Kapit MP further hoped that all politicians can shift their focus towards all efforts in developing Johor and the economic recovery of the state and the country.
“I hope the opposition can also play their role to provide ‘check and balance’ on the government.
“The people of Johor have decided and all parties should respect their decision. Let us all set aside our differences and give priority towards the people and the country,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
