KUCHING, July 22: After 59 years in the Federation of Malaysia, Sarawak is now on the verge of rapid development, said Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Nanta, who is also Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) and Member of Parliament for Kapit, in his Facebook post today said this year’s Sarawak Day  themed ‘Prosperous Sarawak’ is the best reflection for Sarawak’s aspirations in moving toward a high-income and developed State by 2030.

“For all Sarawakian children, be proud and love your State. Happy 59th Sarawak Day,” he said.

According to Nanta, Sarawak Day, which is celebrated every year on July 22, carries deep meaning for everyone in the Land of the Hornbills.

He pointed out that externally, the yellow, black and red colored cloth is not just a flag.

“Rather, the waving of the flag, which was once known as ‘trisakti’, before being changed to the latest version, reveals various stories of Sarawak’s history,” he said. — DayakDaily
