Nanny and boyfriend fined RM5,000 for abusing young child

Both accused were seen waiting outside the courtroom.

KUCHING, Aug 18:  The Sessions Court here sentenced a nanny and her girlfriend to a fine of RM5,000 for physically abusing a 5-year-old girl. 

Farah Hafiezah Rahim, 35 and Muhammad Boken Sikog, 33, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a maximum fine of RM20,000 or imprisonment up to ten years, or with both, upon conviction. 


Sessions Court Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman sentenced each of them to a fine of RM5,000 or in default to six-month imprisonment and also to execute a bond of good behavior in the sum of RM10,000 for a period of two years with one local surety each.

Judge Afidah also ordered both accused to perform community services of 120 hours which are to be completed within six months.

The duo were found physically causing hurt to a five years old girl who was under their care, at a coffee shop in Batu Kawa, between June 2020 and October 2020. 

According to the brief facts of the case, the victim’s mother found out that there were a few bruises in her daughter’s back, right arm and left elbow. 

Both accused used rotan, broom and chicken feather broom to cause hurt to the victim.  They were also found to have pinched the victim’s cheek.
