Uggah, also Sarawak’s Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, said two remaining packages to be completed comprise approximately 9 kilometres of R3 road, a two-lane single-carriageway, and one bridge.

“We will come with a plan which we will share with Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) and is to be implemented by the Public Work Department (JKR) Sarawak,” he said during a press conference after a meeting on a field site visit programme to the Baleh HEP access road at the Kapit Resident Office today.

Uggah added the access road project is estimated to be completed in 2025 and would significantly improve connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

He said the improved connectivity to the Baleh HEP will also facilitate smoother transportation of materials and personnel, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of energy production.

“This, in turn, ensures a stable power supply to surrounding communities and industries, fostering economic growth and development.”

Uggah said this infrastructure advancement not only boosts local employment opportunities but also attracts potential investors, amplifying the region’s socio-economic potential.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RECODA, Datui Ismawi Ismuni, said all issues and challenges faced by the contractors have been resolved and believed that the project will be completed, by early next year.

Also in attendance were the Works Minister, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is also, the Chairman of the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development I (Infrastructure Development), Datuk Aidel Lariwoo. ā€” DayakDaily
