Myvi driver killed after car veers off Pan Borneo Highway near Suai, Miri

MIRI, June 15: A 32-year-old local man was killed after the car he was driving lost control and crashed into the bushes along the Pan Borneo Highway in the Suai area on Friday (June 13).

According to Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the fatal single-vehicle crash occurred at around 2pm at KM823.2 of the Miri-Bintulu stretch of the highway.

The victim was driving a Perodua Myvi from Miri towards Bintulu when the vehicle is believed to have lost control, veered off to the left side of the road and landed in a thicket.

“The driver sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.

Police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Mohd Farhan urged witnesses or anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Mohammad Amiruddin Hamdan at 018-9529957 or 085-4330479, or report to the nearest police station.
