Myanmar national missing after falling from ship in Saratok

KUCHING, Aug 8: A 20-year-old Myanmar man was reported to have fallen from a ship at the Batu Pekan Wharf into Sungai Krian in Saratok today.

According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 10.43am, and firefighters from the Saratok station were deployed.

Based on the chronology of the incident, at around 9.30am today, the vessel Moi Soon 2 was anchored at the wharf when it was reported that the victim fell into the river.

The crew attempted to search for the victim but were unsuccessful, which prompted a police report to be lodged at the Saratok station.

The victim, identified as Thu Htoo Aung, was last seen wearing a pair of long brown pants and rubber shoes. He was also noted to be shirtless. — DayakDaily
