KUCHING, Aug 12: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has shared his experience climbing up a high water tank during his visit to Kampung Datu in Sibu recently, defying his age.
Abang Johari, who is now at 73-years-old, noted that this is one of God’s gifts to him and anyone else who works as hard.
“The other day I was in Sibu to inspect the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) at Kampung Datu. There is a high level water tank that I intended to climb up.
“The DID deputy director who was present told me that I cannot climb it; perhaps he assumed I couldn’t because I am 73, but I insisted and climbed the tower,” he said during the Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) Innovation and Integrity Day closing ceremony held at Imperial Hotel here last night (Aug 11).
Jokingly, he added that even some of his bodyguards were too scared to climbed up the tower.
He added that even Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki also joining him in climbing the water tank.
“What I am trying to say here is that our intention matters. If our intention is good and what we are doing is for the benefit of others, such a blessing will come to you,” he said. — DayakDaily
