Multi-cornered fight once more in Lanang with DAP’s Alice Lau facing off against GPS, PBK, Independent

SIBU, Nov 5: As expected, the P211 Lanang parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) will be a four-cornered fight

The seat, which is made up of Dudong and Bukit Assek constituency has always been a multi-cornered fight.

Incumbent Alice Lau Kiong Yieng of DAP is hoping to win three times in a row.


In the 2018 parliamentary election, Lau garnered 29,905 votes to retain the Lanang seat with a majority of 14,546 votes in a three-cornered fight.

SUPP’s Kelvin Kong secured 15,539 votes while Sarawak Peace Party’s Priscilla Lau obtained 628 votes.

Her opponents this time include Wong Ching Yong from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Priscilla Lau under the Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) ticket and an Independent candidate, Datuk Wong Tiing Kiong.

Their candidacy was accepted by returning officer Teng Min Min at the Lanang Candidate Nomination Center at SMK Methodist.

Earlier, Alice arrived at the nomination center grounds at 8.15am with about 50 supporters, followed by Ching Yong with a similar amount of supporters at 8.30am.

At 8.45 am, Priscilla arrived at the compound of the nomination center to submit her nomination.

Tiing Kiong arrived at 8.50am with about 20 of his supporters. — DayakDaily
