Mukah, Tanjung Manis to welcome inagural AirBorneo flights on Jan 2

KUCHING, Dec 31: Mukah Division is set to enter a new phase of regional connectivity with the arrival of AirBorneo’s inaugural flights at Mukah and Tanjung Manis airports on Jan 2, 2026.

Mukah Division Resident Datu Kueh Lei Poh said the historic arrival is expected to strengthen domestic air links, particularly for the central coastal region of Sarawak.

“The inaugural AirBorneo flights on the said date will involve two types of aircraft with different arrival schedules.

“At Mukah Airport, an ATR 72 aircraft is scheduled to depart from Kuching International Airport at 8:25am and arrive at 9:20am.

“Meanwhile, at Tanjung Manis Airport, a De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft is scheduled to depart from Kuching International Airport at 8:45am and arrive at 9:25am,” he said during the Preparatory Meeting for the First Arrival of AirBorneo Aircraft held at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre in Mukah yesterday (Dec 30).

He noted that the meeting aimed to ensure proper coordination and preparation for the smooth launch of the inaugural flights.

Kueh further added that both airports will host official welcoming ceremonies with a water salute for the inaugural arrival.

Also present were Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and heads of departments from the Mukah Division. — DayakDaily
