Muhyiddin will be highly held if he were to treat Sarawak “fairly and justly”

KUCHING, Mac 1: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos believes Sarawakians will give highest respect to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin if he were to treat Sarawak “fairly and justly”.

“We will salute and honour Muhyiddin if he treats Sarawak fairly and justly,” Peter said in a statement today.

Peter hoped that Muhyiddin will look into the needs of Sarawak and return the rights as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to the state government.

“We hope that Muhyiddin as the prime minister will help Sarawak and not like Pakatan Harapan which deliberately ‘bullied’ Sarawak.

“We also hope that Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Bhd) will be kind to Sarawak from now on and pay the five per cent state sales tax and the oil and gas royalty.

“Besides that, we hope the Sarawak’s rights as enshrined under MA63 be returned soonest to Sarawak.”

On another note, Peter said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had made a wise decision to choose Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister.

He noted that GPS will not choose to work with a coalition which includes Democractic Action Party (DAP) where some of the leaders in that party were arrogant and insensitive towards the needs of Sarawakians.

Malaysians, Peter believed, are greatly relieved as the political crisis could be over following Muhyiddin has been appointed as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia.

Peter hoped that leaders from the PH coalition will not create any more issues as the people have fed up with some top politicians’ greed for power.

“The dust could have settled. It is now time for Muhyiddin to choose and appoint good and capable ministers and deputy ministers into the federal government’s cabinet to administer the country,” said Peter. — DayakDaily
