KUCHING, June 15: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has given the commitment that the Parliament may be held around September or October with strict standard operating procedures (SOP).

He said it has been his stance from the beginning that the parliamentary democracy system could function again at the appropriate time, that is, once the Covid-19 cases were brought under control and the country has almost achieved its herd immunity.

“I will continue to support the principles of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy.

“Let there be no parties who deliberately cause anxiety and confusion among the people to the point of interfering with the government’s main task to address the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said when announcing the National Strategic Recovery Plan today.

Based on the plan, said Muhyiddin, the country would be in the third phase in September or October, which could see the reopening of Parliament.

During the third phase, he explained that all sectors of the economy will be allowed to operate except for activities listed on the negative list. — DayakDaily
