KUCHING, Mar 16: Tan Sri Dato Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin today strongly denied allegations that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is forming close ties with Pakatan Harapan (PH), calling them baseless claims intended solely to disrupt harmony within Bersatu and among Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition parties.

The statement was issued in response to a report by Free Malaysia Today on March 15, in which former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin claimed that a faction within the party was seeking closer cooperation with PH.

The Bersatu president stressed that such matters have never been discussed at any party level, including the Majlis Pimpinan Tertinggi (MPT), which determines the party’s policies and direction.

“Bersatu has clear principles in defending religion, race, and nation while safeguarding the welfare of the people.

“Any cooperation with other parties is guided strictly by these principles,” he said.

While acknowledging that Bersatu was previously part of PH when the coalition led the federal government from 2018 to 2020, he emphasised that the party has since co-founded PN with Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS), later joined by Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP).

He concluded that Bersatu’s stance has remained firm, with current efforts focused on strengthening the party and consolidating PN ahead of the 16th General Election. — DayakDaily
