KUCHING, Dec 29: The residents of Lorong 385 at Muara Tuang have complained that waste has not been collected from their homes for a week.

Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) Kuching chief George Lam and special assistant to Chong Chieng Jen, Jordan Soo who received the complaint this morning, described Kota Samarahan Municipal Council’s (MPKS) failure to ensure consistent rubbish collection service as “unprofessional”.

“Having listened to these complaints, we made calls to MPKS, but the calls were hung up by the officers immediately.

“We find this totally unacceptable. Who should the public be looking for if they can’t contact the council?” said Lam and Soo in a joint statement today.

As of 5pm today, they said the rubbish has been cleared.

Urging the council to not repeat the same mistake, the duo called on MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos to look into the efficiency and quality of the council’s services. — Dayakdaily
