KANOWIT, Jan 8: The Muara Lassa Bridge, the second-longest bridge in Sarawak, is set to open to the public tomorrow (Jan 9), at 3pm.
In announcing this, Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) in a notice today informed road users to drive safely and obey all traffic rules when using the bridge.
Spanning 2.43 kilometres, the bridge connects the coastal areas of Daro and Mukah, significantly enhancing connectivity and economic opportunities for local residents.
The Muara Lassa Bridge is part of the Sarawak government’s initiative to improve infrastructure in rural areas, alongside the Batang Paloh and Batang Igan bridges.
The project, costing RM597.58 million, began in 2019 but faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite these challenges, the bridge is now ready to serve the public, marking a significant milestone in the State’s development efforts. – DayakDaily
