KUCHING, June 19: The Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is working with AirBorneo as the Sarawak-owned airline works to overcome recent operational challenges.

In a Bernama report, MAG said through its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) arm MAB Engineering Services, it continues to provide AirBorneo with line, base, and component maintenance, as well as warehousing and logistics support.

“Following recent operational disruptions, MAG is continuing to engage closely with AirBorneo as part of ongoing efforts to support the airline’s operational recovery and enhance aircraft availability,” the group said to Bernama on Thursday (June 18).

The group said efforts are underway to improve maintenance, parts availability, and operational efficiency to boost reliability and reduce disruptions to passengers.

This followed public criticism over a series of flight disruptions involving AirBorneo-operated services in recent weeks, including delays, cancellations and passenger complaints that have drawn attention on social media following Sarawak’s takeover of MASwings and the airline’s ongoing transition into AirBorneo.

On June 15, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg assured the public that the issues currently faced by the State-owned airline are temporary and stem from the ongoing transition following Sarawak’s takeover of MASwings. — DayakDaily
