MIRI, 21 Dec: The disbursement of Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants, especially to recipients in the rural areas, reflects the government’s continuous efforts to develop the rural communities.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau asserted this when handing over a sum of RM1.16 million in the form of MRP grant that was disbursed to 50 recipients, comprising organisations and longhouse village security and development committees (JKKK) in his  constituency.

During a brief ceremony here today, he also presented Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) cheques to eight recipients amounting at RM475,000.00.

He revealed that from 2011 until this year, a total of RM20 million worth of MRP grants have been disbursed to Telang Usan constituency.

Hence, he called on his constituents to retain the ruling government under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in this coming State election.

“People in Telang Usan are fortunate, that their wakil rakyat is from the ruling GPS government, thus they are able to enjoy the fruits of development and benefits given by the State government,” he reckoned.

On another note, Dennis reminded the MRP’s recipients to use the grants wisely to benefit their villagers and surrounding communities.

Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Charles Balan Seling and Zorina Achim of the Miri Treasury Department. — DayakDaily
