KUCHING, Nov 1: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap requested Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers to prepare another scope of works to upgrade the drainage upgrade on the opposite side of Jalan Depo Ranger, Mile 7 at Kota Sentosa.

According to a press release, this is for the purpose of submitting an application for an additional RM200,000 under Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation for 2024 to ensure that the flash flood problem along this road stretch of Jalan Depo Ranger, Mile 7 will be a thing of the past once the work is completed. All the drainage upgrades will cost a combined sum of RM500,000.

The extra RTP allocation to be requested is to top up the 2023 RTP allocation of RM300,000 for the scope of work.

The upgrading work is along the road stretch in front of the 7th Mile Chamber of Commerce Kindergarten, Kota Sentosa Library and 7th Mile Community Association multipurpose hall.

Yap said the proposed upgrading includes concrete drains and the construction of three new culverts.

He added that as a Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) backbencher, he will continue to play his role as “check and balance” to the government authorities tasked with service delivery,

“I remain committed to securing more state development funding for improving systematically and progressively all the neglected infrastructure (drains and roads) to uplift the living standard and improving the quality of life of all the communities living in N12 Kota Santosa,” said Yap.
