KUCHING, July 28: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap wants the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to speed up the construction work to upgrade three approved rural transformation projects (RTP) in his constituency worth RM350,000.
Yap said the three projects involve upgrading three recreational parks at Lorong Jalan Semaba 2B2, Lorong Jalan Semaba 7, and Taman Rekreasi Olive Garden, Batu Tujuh.
“RM200,000 was approved for Taman Rekreasi Olive Garden, RM100,000 for Lorong 7 (Semaba Park), and RM50,000 for Lorong Jalan Semaba 2B2 to be implemented by MPP.
“Recreational parks provide a conducive venue for residents to congregate, provide active recreation opportunities for all ages, create valuable green spaces, and contribute to the wellness of the local community, which are very important for encouraging a healthier and active lifestyle as well as improving property values,” he said in a statement after he and Penghulu Lai Boon Khee were briefed by MPP officers on the projects today.
Meanwhile, in the same statement, Yap hoped that for the upcoming six state elections in Malaya, all political parties participating would represent the full diversity of the people by proposing fair and effective policies.
“It is hoped that all political parties would not resort to 3R (race, religion, and royalty) issues to garner votes but instead promote the essential values of mutual respect, dialogue, consensus, consultation, and compromise to prevent our society from being increasingly polarised and divided,” he said.
Yap also hopes that the current unity government will ensure that no minority group or community will experience discriminatory and xenophobic rhetoric during the campaign period of the state elections. — DayakDaily
