MPP puts trust in Resident Councillors to nurture positive environment for residents, investors

KUCHING, July 29: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Resident Councillors System (RCS) will ensure a comfortable and safe environment for residents and investors.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang, said the council will continue to put emphasis on RCS to enhance the spirit of neighbourliness and caring communities through the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

According to Lo, these values are also paramount to build and sustain a dynamic, friendly and cultured community with a strong sense of unity and identity as well as be environmentally-friendly.


ā€œPadawan Municipal Council will continue to think of innovative ways to provide good and clean eateries and restaurants for tourists and investors to frequent.

ā€œSimilarly, the quality of living will be enhanced with the increase in the number of parks and recreational facilities which are able to provide comfortable places for people of all races and from all walks of life, young and old to mingle, go and rest in the municipality.

ā€œCouncil will also cooperate with Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) towards a crime-free and safe municipality. It is only with a conducive environment provided would investors feel comfortable and be willing to stay and invest here,ā€ he said in a statement today.

Lo, who is also the Batu Kitang assemblyman, disclosed MPP has also taken various initiatives to turn Padawan into a clean and green area.

He noted, all parks and open spaces within MPP areas are regularly maintained for cleanliness and beautification, and the MPP Landscape Master Plan will be implemented in phases to meet the councilā€™s objective to be a green and beautifully landscaped municipality.

He also pointed out that the rakyat needs to cultivate new habits and habits to keep the town and kampung (village) clean.

He said inculcating discarding and segregating waste in a proper manner are done through various joint recycling programmes conducted together with schools, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), Ketua Masyarakat (community leaders) and Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd.

ā€œIn addition, MPP will also continue its effective provision of road and drain maintenance services and ensure all developers are issued with road permits to ensure the councilā€™s roads are maintained in good condition.

ā€œThrough cooperation with the Health Department, grading of food outlets programme and organising of food handlersā€™ course for all food operators will continue to be effectively implemented for sustainable health and environment,ā€ he added. ā€” DayakDaily
