KUCHING, May 20: The due date for payment of the first half of 2020 assessment rates under Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has been deferred from May 31 to Oct 31.
MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang explained that residential properties paying annual rates of RM400 or below will enjoy discounts ranging from 30 per cent to 100 per cent.
“Under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS), the Sarawak government has discounted the assessment rates by 25 per cent for commercial, industrial properties as well as residential properties paying an annual assessment rate above RM400.
“As for properties affected by the 25 per cent discount, the Council has generated the new assessment rate bills with the 25 per cent discount. These bills are currently being despatched by the Council,” he said in a statement after chairing a full council meeting today.
Lo assured that ratepayers who had already paid the assessment rate for the first half of 2020 without the discount will have the overpayment of rates credited to the second half of the 2020 assessment bill.
“This also applies to those who had paid both the first and second half-year 2020 assessment rates without the discount,” he added.
Ratepayers who are unsure of the amount of assessment rates they need to pay or have not received their assessment rate bills or have misplaced their assessment rate bills are requested to contact the council headquarter at Kota Padawan here.
All telephone enquiries can be channelled to PMC at 082-615566.
Payment of assessment rate bills can be made at all the payment counters at PMC, Service Sarawak Counters at UTC, Kuching City North Commission (DBKU), Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Sesco, Kuching Water Board (KWB), Pos Malaysia Bhd and H&L Supermarket outlets.
