KUCHING, Aug 26: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos welcome the possibility of waste-to-energy (WTE) management to be implemented in Samarahan.
Minos in a statement today said the Swedish concept of WTE management is a modern way of treating and managing solid waste with the use of incinerator.
“We are pioneering with the modern Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) transportation, and so why not with WTE?” he said.
On Aug 23, it is reported that the Sarawak government is working to establish a strategic collaboration with the Swedish government on WTE management.
Meanwhile, Minos said MPKS is pleased with the current progress of the ART project by Sarawak Metro along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.
He also claimed that the ART project is the first of its kind of new urban transport using hydrogen fuel in Malaysia.
“As chairman of this municipal council, I cannot help but be happy and proud. So many good things are going on and coming up in Samarahan,” he added. — DayakDaily
