KUCHING, July 2: The newly completed MakanSari Food Street at Aiman Mall will cater to those who are budget-conscious.
Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos said the newly completed venue has over 50 stalls selling various local foods, including Western cuisine.
“One-quarter of the food street is now being developed to showcase and sell artworks and handicrafts, including locally-made ones.
“Some in Samarahan are talented in producing all kinds of handicrafts and arts. They even make some of the best ‘kain songket’,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Minos said MPKS is also undertaking more tourism projects in Samarahan, with the construction of Tambirat Market currently 97 per cent completed.
He also said the market, located in Asajaya, will act as a one-stop centre for local visitors and tourists selling local products.
“Apart from that, a small lake at Desa Ilmu will soon be developed and beautified for the enjoyment of the locals.
“MPKS is doing its best in making Samarahan a livable place for all, especially after solving the traffic jam and waste-collection problem,” he added. — DayakDaily
