KUCHING, Aug 26: When it comes promoting Malaysia’s tourism industry, it is important to move beyond clichés, says federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing following the launching of the ‘Star Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2025’, which is a collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Star Media Group.
In a Facebook post, he encouraged promoting hidden gems, showcasing meaningful cultural experiences, and highlighting innovative products that inspire national pride.
“’Cuti-Cuti Malaysia’ is more than a slogan. It is the smiles that come with family road trips, the excitement of the hidden beaches we stumble upon, the mouth-watering char kuey teow we stumble upon in a small town, or the breathtaking hilltop views we never knew existed. These are the memories that connect us to our homeland,” he said in his post.
He added that as 2025 is the foundation for Visit Malaysia 2026, he called for everyone to make tourism not just about campaigns, but a daily commitment to show the world the beauty, uniqueness, and soul of Malaysia.
Speaking on the carnival, Tiong, who is also Dudong assemblyman and Bintulu MP, called for it to expanded nationwide instead of being confined to only a few states.
“From bustling cities to quiet kampungs, from coastal charm to rainforest majesty. Every state has a unique story to tell, and all deserve to shine,” he said. — DayakDaily
