SIBU, July: 28: A 47-year-old motorcyclist died when he was hit by a four-wheel-drive at Jalan Ulu Oya today.
The victim has been identified as Sunni Lasau, 47, from Rumah Buai, Pasai Siong, near here.
Sibu district deputy police chief, Supt Collin Babat said in the 8.30am accident, the 20-year-old student driving the 4WD lost control of the vehicle and hit the victim at Jalan Ulu Oya.
The 4WD was then heading from Sibujaya to Sibu Hospital while the victim was coming out from the hospital area.
“After the accident, the victim together with his pillion rider, 73, and a passenger of the 4WD were rushed to the hospital emergency ward for injuries. The driver of the vehicle was unhurt,” he said.
However, the victim died at the hospital at 9.50am.
Supt Collin said the student was arrested for investigation under Section 112 of the Road Transport Act 1987.—DayakDaily
