PADAWAN, Sept 8: A 38-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a car at Batu 16, Jalan Kuching-Serian, here on Monday (Sept 7).
In a statement, Padawan district police chief Supt Barry William said the victim, Low Tit Fui, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8.57pm after succumbing to severe injuries.
Preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at about 7.45pm when a car driven by a 30-year-old woman, with a passenger, was travelling from Serian towards Kuching.
Upon reaching the scene, the car was travelling straight in the right lane when the victim’s motorcycle was believed to have suddenly changed lanes from the left to the right lane.
“The car driver was unable to avoid the motorcycle and collided with its rear,” he said.
The impact threw the victim onto the road, while his motorcycle skidded into the left lane.
Barry said an initial examination found that the victim had sustained head injuries. The car driver and passenger were unharmed.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
