Motorcyclist killed in collision with trailer lorry

MIRI, August 29: A motorcyclist was killed in a crash along the Lutong-Miri road, near the RPR Mile 7 petrol station on Wednesday morning (Aug 29).

The fatal crash which involved a trailer lorry, also shut down part of the road heading from Lutong towards Miri city centre this morning around 11.15am.

The 30 year-old motorcyclist, has been identified as Ismail Razali from Kampung Luak 1C Jalan Bakam.

Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted, disclosed that Ismail was pronounced dead at Miri Hospital due to serious head and bodily injuries.

“Both Ismail and the trailer lorry were heading in the same direction (to the city centre from Lutong) prior to the fatal crash,” said Lim.

Lim in a statement said, initial investigations showed that Ismail had suddenly entered the lorry’s lane (fast lane).

The lorry’s 55 year-old driver, was not injured in the crash.

The case, Lim added, was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. — DayakDaily
