MIRI, June 8: A fatal accident involving two motorcycles occurred on the Miri-Pujut Road at midnight on Saturday (June 8), claiming the life of a 42-year-old man.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu reported that the collision involved a Yamaha Y15 ZR ridden by the 42-year-old victim and a Honda Wave ridden by a 57-year-old man.
Police received a report on the accident at 12.10am on June 8.
The investigation revealed that both motorcycles were heading towards Miri City Centre.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Honda Wave rider, who was in the right lane, changed course and was hit by the Yamaha Y15 ZR coming from the left lane.
The impact of the collision resulted in severe damage to both motorcycles.
Tragically, the Yamaha Y15 ZR rider died at the scene, while the Honda Wave rider sustained severe injuries, said Alexson.
Following the report, police have opened an investigation paper.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
