KUCHING, Oct 6: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at the Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah Bin Datu Bandar Haji Muhammad Kasim roundabout (near Old Sarawak Legislative Assembly building) here around 3.40am this morning.
Kuching District Police Chief Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the Yamaha Y15ZR-type motorcycle was heading straight from Jalan Tun Salahuddin before losing control and crashing into the roundabout.
“The victim is a man in his 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer around 4am,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
The offence carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to RM50,000.
